Frozen Oasis Ten (FOX) – Con report

Sorry it has taken me so long to get this out to you all. So on Friday, May 18th we had our Frozen Oasis Ten at Morphicon in Columbus Ohio! Thanks to you all who came out to party! We had a brand new dance room, which I thought went particularly well, and we didn’t even get shut down (hoorays!) The hotel, being under construction, didn’t even care about how much we used the fog maker because the smoke detector system was offline!

We started at 8 pm, our earliest start to date, and we went until 4 am… a nice 7-hour party. We shut down the dance room around 3:30 out of courtesy to our neighbors (as the Hotel booked an airline staff down the hall later in the evening… sorry Bastian). In these 7 hours, we had an attendance of 94, including FO staff, 101. (At a con as small as Morphicon, that’s almost half the attendees…) and consumed 14 liters of alcohol (8 handles), which made for 20 gallons of mixed drink. We polished off all 10 gallons of margarita. There was half a liter or so left of daiquiri, which Soron drank the next night.

Meanwhile… in the dance room… we gave out about 12 packs of leis (72 give or take a few). We didn’t keep track of glow-stick consumption this con (sorry).

Here’s my playlist for the party…. It’s pretty long, since I was the DJ for most of the night. To view it, click

I started out with some Drum and Bass, as usual. It’s a work-in-progress I’ve been experimenting with, with the working title “Concrete Jungle”. I said I’d debut Desert Creature vol 1 at Morphicon, but apparently I lied. The cover art wasn’t done, and I didn’t have time to make copies, even if it were done. Sooo… that’s being put off to MFM. (Tekfox is releasing an album at AC this year, and will be playing the Frozen Oasis, so there will already be music for you to take home from that con!)

So here it goes….
DRUM AND BASS – “Jaspian – Concrete Jungle vol 1”

* = These modified tracks are original, and can only be found in this set.

The second set was Industrial/Synthpop/Futurepop/EBM (what the hell do you call this genre?) Which I knew would go over well ‘cuz this is the only con I know of that has a con dance with this sort of music. (Plus, last year, this stuff was popular at the FO). So I went out and got all the new albums from the big names in EBM, so all the tracks would be new and fresh, and then added in a few classic favorites. The mix ended up being FOUR ANDA HALF HOURS LONG. Which is good, because we needed it. As usual, I set the megamix to start out nice and poppy and then got progressively eviler. (Same with the DnB tracks above).

So here it goes:
EBM/INDUSTRIAL-SYNTHPOP – “Jaspian – Project Candle Light” (This will never be released due to harsher copyright restrictions in this musical genre. There’s also 1 house track mixed in, and some Psytrance)
